Pictures from the stork nest

Schrobenhausen, Germany – What are the stork and its babies doing? This question can soon be answered on the Internet. At the end of November, a camera was mounted on the roof of the Maria Ward Secondary School next to the existing stork nest. The holding device for this was manufactured by apprentices from BAUER AG and – with the active support of the Schrobenhausen volunteer fire brigade – also attached by hand.

The mount for the stork nest at the girls' secondary school had already come from the Bauer training workshop in 2017 and was installed on the roof by the fire brigade at the time. In January 2024, the headmaster Dr. Frank Puschner asked the training manager Gerhard Piske if the company could make a camera mount. The BAUER Training Center was immediately taken with this idea.

Once the metal structure was ready, the only thing left to do was to wait for the current breeding season to come to an end, after which the project could get underway. The fire brigade once again arrived with a large emergency vehicle equipped with a turntable ladder, and Maximilian Haninger and Benjamin Platzek, two aspiring construction and industrial mechanics in their fourth year of training, mounted the camera at a height that was not entirely free from vertigo.

The first images were on the monitor shortly afterwards. However, it will take a little while before the online transmission is set up, but the next breeding season can be followed live from the stork family's nursery.
