New photovoltaic system on the roof of the Old Welding Shop

Schrobenhausen, Germany – In the context of growing environmental awareness and ambitious climate targets, renewable energies are gaining in importance – especially solar energy. Recently, BAUER AG has put a new photovoltaic system into operation at the Schrobenhausen site. Gerhard Winter, Head of Facility Management at Bauer, explains: “The planning of such a system in Schrobenhausen has been under discussion for a long time. However, the roof of the Old Welding Shop had to be renovated before installation could begin.” So two birds were killed with one stone.

Specifically, 464 modules are now installed on the roof of the Old Welding Shop, each generating 430 Wp. This corresponds to a total output of 199.52 kWp – enough to cover the permanent power requirements of the Bauer headquarters, i.e. the electricity that is needed at least 24 hours a day. In total, Bauer has invested around 180,000 euros in the new system. It is expected to pay for itself in around 6.5 years and produce around 220,000 kWh of electricity per year. Incidentally, Bauer has also been producing green electricity at its Edelshausen plant with two solar power systems since 2008. And when the new administration building was constructed in Schrobenhausen, sustainability was also taken into account: geothermal energy is used to heat the building in winter and cool it in summer.
