Help for Ukraine: employees of the BAUER Group donate EUR 100,000

Schrobenhausen, Germany – Many people were shocked when the first reports and pictures of war in Ukraine went around the world at the end of February. The precarious situation of people in Ukraine as well as refugees who have had to flee their homes has led to a wave of willingness to help from people in many countries. Many employees in the BAUER Group also wanted to help. In March the Group therefore cooperated with "Aktion Deutschland Hilft",, a coalition of German relief organizations that is based in Bonn, to launch a fundraising campaign "BAUER Group for Ukraine." The result: after two weeks a total of EUR 100,000 was collected, including the amount contributed by the company. "It makes me proud and thankful to see what we can achieve together," says Michael Stomberg, CEO of BAUER AG. "A heartfelt thank you to each and every donor!"

On April 25, the symbolic check handover took place at the Schrobenhausen headquarters of BAUER AG. Sabine Sakals from the partner organization LandsAid accepted the donation check from Michael Stomberg on behalf of Aktion Deutschland Hilft. She also sincerely thanked all the donors and said: "The great willingness to help, from people of all walks of life, is unprecedented. Donations such as this allow us to purchase urgently needed relief supplies such as food or medication, and provide them to people in Ukraine via various channels. Every euro counts." And Michael Stomberg emphasized: "The relief organizations know best what is most urgently required and where. They also have the necessary networks. That's why it was important to us that we support the relief organizations with our donation."

Stomberg continued by saying that many BAUER Group employees are also privately active, for example by collecting donated goods and helping with transportation to Ukraine, or by welcoming refugees to their homes. "This cannot be underestimated, which is why we support everyone in their commitment. In addition to this, we are also, for example, making empty company apartments available as accommodation. There is no question that we need to help where we can, because this war affects us all."
